Isaiah 49:14-17 NKJV

But Zion said, "The LORD has forsaken me, And my Lord has forgotten me." [15] "Can a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you. [16] See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me. [17] Your sons shall make haste; Your destroyers and those who laid you waste Shall go away from you.

Have you ever written a reminder to do something on your hand? Maybe you need to buy something or even record a phone number or a date of an appointment - so you scribble it on your hand - to wash it off later. As long as it stays, it's a constant prompt of the memory.

Personally, as I get older, I need these sort of nudges more and more, as the memory fails!

In this passage, the Lord clearly states that He cannot forget Zion. Although its inhabitants feel that God has forsaken them, He emphasises that He cannot.

Why?

Because His Hands are a constant reminder of them....

Jesus' nail-pierced Hands are indelible prompts, pointing to His Eternal Covenant with His People.

Israel will never be destroyed, no matter how the nations decide to ban, alienate or oppose it.

Yesterday the French president, Macron, arrogantly warned that the UN legitamised the state of Israel - insinuating, by default, that it could confiscate it too.

He needs to look to the Bible and be humble. How arrogant we humans are.

Why this increasing, inexplicable isolation and criminalising of Israel and the Jewish people?

It's a crystallisation of the ancient prophecies to be fulfilled in the end times.

Zechariah 12:3,8-9 NKJV

And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it. [8] In that day the LORD will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; the one who is feeble among them in that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, like the Angel of the LORD before them. [9] It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

The Lord has His Indelible Reminder, Immutable Covenant engraved on His Hands.

Watch and see!

Take encouragement, Jesus' Hands are large enough for the Cosmos, and tender enough to remember us too. Each believer's name is engraved on His palms and no one can snatch us away!

John 10:27-30 NKJV

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. [28] And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. [29] My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. [30] I and My Father are one."
