Yesterday we flew into Gibraltar. From a distance you could see the promontory standing tall high above the waves of the sea.
For centuries this Rock has been a coveted place to guard the entrance to "the Med" with the African continent only a few miles away.
The British have held this place proudly since 1704 and it was particularly helpful in WW2.
In our lives we need such a Rock of safety to run to when all around is chaos and confusion - a place that can lift us up to a position of safety where we can see things from God's viewpoint.
Our Lord is such a Rock and, in Him we find our security and refuge.
When we are under attack, Jesus is a Rock who is, not only higher than I, but high above all principalities and powers!
Ephesians 1:20-21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.
Whatever is to come against us in the days to come, we can run to the Rock of Ages for protection.
Isaiah 26:4 AMPC So trust in the Lord (commit yourself to Him, lean on Him, hope confidently in Him) forever; for the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages].
