Romans 10:8-10 But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
It's a strange thing but often we can't see something that's right in front of us.
Many times I've been called by my nearest and dearest to look for something he can't find, only to point out that it was right in front of him! Come on, ladies, you know what I'm talking about, don't you?!
So it is with our search for God - people will go to great lengths to find peace of mind and assurance about their lives when the answer is close by.
I spoke with one friend recently who said that she talked to angels and asked them to keep her safe.
My question to her was: "Why don't you go to the Source? Angels are only servants that do God's bidding." (Let alone that Lucifer is head of the fallen angels, so it's best to know which ones you're dealing with)!
When Paul was in Athens he too was grieved at how the locals were worshipping many different idols, and, just to be on the safe side, they had a statue to the unknown God! Acts 17:23
He then goes on to explain that the true God is not far from anyone one of us. Acts 17:27 AMPC So that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel after Him and find Him, although He is not far from each one of us.
The most amazing thing about our Lord is that He is near and we can reach out to Him at any and every moment.
He's more willing to receive us than we are to come to Him! Imagine that!
The fox cubs are beginning to realise that they have a good source of food in our garden and are starting to come near and eat without running off so quickly. We are close to their den, so it's within easy reach of them.
At first they came at night when they couldn't be seen, but now they're braver.
Nicodemus came to Jesus at night, as he didn't want to be seen with Jesus, but he wanted to ask Him questions. [See John 3.]
There's a bit of Nicodemus in each one of us. Not to worry, Jesus can cope with that too.
Or, are you like Zacchaeus? Trying find out about Jesus anonymously without Him knowing. Yet Jesus stops and says to you come down out of your hiding place - I'm coming to your house (heart).
Luke 19:5 AMPC
And when Jesus reached the place, He looked up and said to him, Zacchaeus, hurry and come down; for I must stay at your house today.
You don't have to go and live as a hermit or follow some guru in the desert. You don't need to keep some strict religious rules and regulations! The God of all Creation is near you:
Isaiah 55:6 AMPC Seek, inquire for, and require the Lord while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near.
Sadly, there will come a time when it will be too late to turn to Jesus.
Noah was a laughingstock while he built the ark. No one was laughing after the door was shut Noah and his family were safe and they were drowned!
Jesus said "As it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the time of the Son of Man." Luke 17:26-27
I can't stress enough the urgency of calling on the Lord while He is near.
Now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2
There will come a day of judgement for this world and we need to be safe in the arms of Jesus at that time.
