Personal guidance & protection
Psalm 32:8 AMPC I [the Lord] will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you. "I'm watching you!" What does that mean to me? Perhaps I'd like to say to a nosey neighbour, mind your own business, it's nothing to do with you. But, when the Lord says it, He says it with love, not to be intrusive, but to shield and protect me from danger. That's the daily care that He extends to me as His child. It's a wonderful consoling Eye He k

We need Light
Colossians 1:13-17 NKJV He (Jesus) has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, [14] in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. [15] He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. [16] For by Him all things were created that are in Heaven and that are on Earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created throu

Shadows caused by light!
Isaiah 9:2 NKJV The people who walked in darkness Have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, Upon them a light has shined. So here I sit, armed with coffee, in the early morning, where darkness still reigns. Only the the torch light from my phone shines on our dog, who has invaded my side of the bed! His shadow silhouette is much larger than his giant body as the light shines on him. This led me to thinking how when Jesus shines His light on

With us!
Isaiah 7:14 NKJV Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. Who are you with this Christmas? That's often the topic of conversation before during Advent. Our neighbours have their family from New Zealand visiting - so there's great joy and anticipation in their household with many preparations for their visit. We've even been invited to share a Christmas tipple with them this morning! Fo

No reputation
Philippians 2:5-7 NKJV Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, [6] who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, [7] but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. Let's break the Incarnation down in microcosm - Jesus, the Name above ALL names stripped Himself of everything to become man. At the moment of conception, the earliest form of a human being is a single cell

Reluctant and angry
Jonah 4:6 NKJV And the LORD God prepared a plant and made it come up over Jonah, that it might be shade for his head to deliver him from his misery. So Jonah was very grateful for the plant. Strangely, in my New King James Bible only once is the word grateful found! It's in the verse above. Jonah, the reluctant and angry evangelist to the Ninevites wasn't grateful that they repented after he preached to them. No, rather he wanted them punished for their cruelty.. Actually, qu

Comforted in Jerusalem
Isaiah 66:10-13 NKJV "Rejoice with Jerusalem, And be glad with her, all you who love her; Rejoice for joy with her, all you who mourn for her; [11] That you may feed and be satisfied With the consolation of her bosom, That you may drink deeply and be delighted With the abundance of her glory." [12] For thus says the LORD: "Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, And the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream. Then you shall feed; On her sides shall you be carrie
